At this time, there is no information about what killed him or when he died.

Powell’s self-titled debut album came out in March 1996 on Silas Records/MCA. The singles “All I Need,” “Gloria,” and “I Like It” were all from that album.

“You,” a ballad that became his signature song and was on his second album, “‘Bout It,” was tucked away in the middle of the album.

Powell wrote this beautiful song with Carl Roland, and it was made into a single for his second album.

“You,” which Roland produced, is a classic R&B song about letting someone know how much you love them. The way Powell’s voice sounds in this song is just magical.

Jesse Powell Biography

Powell was born in Gary, Indiana, and grew up with his three sisters and brother.

American R&B/soul songwriter and performer Jesse Powell was born on September 12, 1971 or November 12, 1971 – September 13, 2022.

Powell, who was discovered by Louil Silas, Jr., is best known for his top 10 Billboard Hot 100 and No. 2 R&B single “You.” Jesse Powell, ‘Bout It, JP, and Jesse are Powell’s four studio albums. He’s the big bro to modern R&B divas Trina and Tamara. The vocal range of Powell was said to span four octaves. He has been nominated for a Grammy Award.

The family took part in local talent shows, and in 1993, Carl Roland, a producer in Kansas City, heard about him. Louil Silas, Jr. signed him to his Silas Records label after seeing him perform at an artist showcase.

After three years, he finished making his first album. His first single “All I Need” was written by Powell, Sam Salter and Laney Stewart and was released in March 1996. It was played a little bit on BET and Urban stations, and its highest position on the Billboard R&B chart was No. 32. On March 12, 1996, his self-titled album came out. It debuted at No. 35 on the Billboard R&B chart and No. 32 on the Heatseekers chart. Powell’s second single, a remake of the classic song “Gloria,” came out later that same year and gave her another hit (No. 51 R&B).

Powell then started working on his second album. In 1998, the lead single “I Wasn’t with It” came out, and it was his first song to make the Billboard Hot 100. (No. 85 US, No. 25 R&B). His second album, ‘Bout It, came out on September 8, 1998, and went straight to No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, thanks to the success of the single (for artists who have yet to crack the Top 100 on the Billboard 200). At first, the album didn’t sell that well, but when the second single came out, sales picked up. “You” was first on Powell’s debut album, which was also called Powell. But it turned out to be a fan favorite, so it was put on his album ‘Bout It and released as the second single in February 1999. It was his biggest and most famous hit, reaching No. 2 on the R&B chart and No. 10 on the Hot 100. (marking his first Top 10 hit). His second album steadily sold more copies, and the RIAA eventually certified it gold. It peaked at No. 15 on the R&B charts and No. 63 on the Billboard 200. (moving him out of the Heatseekers chart as an artist). Later that year, he released his third single, “‘Bout It, ‘Bout It,” and worked on his third album.

Powell’s first song on MCA Records was the single “If I,” which reached No. 58 on the R&B chart and came out in 2000 after Silas Records and MCA Records merged. On March 27, 2001, his third studio album, JP, came out. It debuted at No. 18 on the R&B chart and No. 71 on the Billboard 200. Powell also helped get the word out about the release by promoting the second single, “Something in the Past,” which reached No. 67 on the R&B charts. In 2002, he left the label and joined Riviera Records. His fourth studio album, Jesse, came out on October 14, 2003. It was supported by the singles “By the Way,” which reached No. 99 on the R&B chart, and “Touching It Tonight,” which reached No. 85. The album was his last one before he quit the music business. He lives in Los Angeles now, and he still works with other artists on their music and on making TV shows.
